This landed in my inbox today. The university overlords are trying to get rid of our wonderful Medieval Literature courses, which are the only thing that distinguishes our arts course from other universities, and which are the most popular unit choices by a long shot.

It'll cancel the honours projects of a number of people, no recompense. It'll also mean most of my friends can't finish their majors- they'll have to start again in something else. Why are they getting rid of these courses? Nobody can figure it out, and despite our best efforts, they're yet to give us any reason.

Hope you're all well.

WE ARE HAVING A PEACEFUL WALK PROTEST!

When: Tuesday 21st October 2008 - this coming Tuesday
Where: Begins at Franklin Square (opposite the Elizabeth Street bus mall) and stopping at the University - possibly outside the vice-chancellor's office.
Time: 11am - 2pm.

If you want to bring your own signs which say "Save Medieval Lit" Or "Medieval Lit Rocks" or some witty sign, please do.

Also, hats and sunscreen - be safe people. And WATER. very important that everyone stays hydrated - passing out while walking may cause complications (but we'll be sure to look after you!).

Plus, anyone who would like to wear medieval costume would be great- it would be a real attention grabbing thing to see if we have some people dressed up. Don't forget about the characters from the Canterbury Tales.
